TST Cooling Vest

Our TST cooling vest contains 21 phase-changing elements that reduce body temperature. Set to activate and stay at 29°C (82°F), each element is effective for up to 2 hours as it melts within its sealed pouch. To reactive the vest simply let the vest sit in ambient conditions until each element solidifies.

Why do I need a Cooling Vest?

Heat stress is a recognized hazard first responders face when completing tasks while wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE). Although our range of PPE has been designed to provide first responders with an excellent level of protection, durability and comfort, the primary purpose of the PPE is to be an impenetrable layer of protection. When the wearer begins their physical activities the body heats up producing excess heat energy that is trapped inside the PPE. The PPE prevents the release of the excess heat which in turn can result in heat stress. Overheating remains a problem...that is until now. First Line Technology now provides a solution - the TST Cooling Vest.

How does it work?

The TST Cooling Vest is fitted with 21 Phase Change Material (PCM) elements. Each element has an activation point set at 82°F. When the ambient temperature rises above this point, the PCM becomes active and starts to absorb the heat energy. But, more importantly, the PCM remains at the activation point temperature. The TST Cooling Vest provides a cooling effect of the body core by heat absorption thus reducing the heat stress hazard.

Is it effective?

Tests completed in a hot environment showed that only a 4°F rise in body temperature were recorded for an individual wearing a TST Cooling Vest compared with a 13°F rise for an individual without the TST Cooling Vest. It really works! The TST Cooling Vest requires no batteries, ice or air pumps. When the ambient temperature around the PCM element cools the stored heat energy is discharged and the PCM solidifies ready for the next use. It is simple, easy and safe.

PhaseCore

The Solution to Personal Cooling

PhaseCore is a phase change material (PCM) that produces a cooling effect by transforming from a solid state to a liquid state when the temperature rises above a certain activation point. PhaseCore elements are available in a variety of activation points. PhaseCore 28 and PhaseCore 32 elements are used for personal cooling. PhaseCore elements are made of a nontoxic, non-flammable salt mixture sealed inside a thermal-aluminum wrapper. PhaseCore elements are not effected by humidity and react only to direct heat.
